Jimmy Zhen Earns Silver at IBJJF No-Gi Pans and Brown Belt

10th Planet Oakland’s Jimmy Zhen reached two major milestones at the 2024 IBJJF Pan No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu Championship, earning a silver medal and receiving his brown belt.

Competing in the Purple Belt Master 1 Light division, Jimmy fought his way to the finals to take silver at one of IBJJF’s major no-gi championships. Official competition records list Jimmy representing 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu in the division.

The performance added to an already strong competition résumé that included multiple IBJJF No-Gi gold medals and a bronze medal at the 2022 IBJJF No-Gi World Championship.

Following his performance at No-Gi Pans, 10th Planet Oakland founder and head coach Michael Hillebrand promoted Jimmy to brown belt.

Belt promotions at 10th Planet Oakland represent more than time spent on the mats. They recognize technical development, experience and an athlete’s continued progression in Jiu Jitsu.

For Jimmy, earning his brown belt alongside a silver medal at No-Gi Pans made for a pretty special day.
