Mason Boutain Wins Pride of the Streets Purple Belt Battle
Former SF State wrestler Mason Boutain wins the Pride of the Streets Purple Belt Battle, continuing his competitive journey with 10th Planet Oakland.

Mason Boutain claimed the Purple Belt Battle title at Pride of the Streets, bringing a championship belt home to 10th Planet Oakland.
The former San Francisco State wrestler, who qualified for the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships in 2022, is continuing his competitive journey on the jiu jitsu mats.
From College Wrestling to Jiu Jitsu
Mason’s background includes years of collegiate competition with the San Francisco State Gators. Now representing Team Savages, he has added a Pride of the Streets championship to his accomplishments.
For wrestlers finishing high school or college, the end of a season doesn’t have to mean the end of their time on the mats. No-gi jiu jitsu offers another way to train, compete, and be part of a team while learning a new side of grappling.
Wrestling experience provides a foundation to build on. Takedowns, balance, and control carry over, while submissions and unfamiliar positions offer new challenges.
A New Challenge for Former Wrestlers
At 10th Planet Oakland, we welcome wrestlers looking for their next competitive goal, as well as those who simply miss training and being part of a room.
Mason’s win is one example of where that next chapter can lead. Congratulations, Mason—we’re proud to have you representing Oakland!
