The 2025 IBJJF World Jiu-Jitsu No-Gi Championship brought podium finishes for three familiar faces in the 10th Planet Oakland community: Brandon “Hapa” Agawa, Brian “Pirate” Wilkinson, and former Oakland coach Anthony Arnal.

Their results give us plenty to celebrate, along with the connections built through years of training and coaching.

Brandon “Hapa” Agawa Earns Brown Belt Bronze

Brandon earned bronze in the Master 3 brown belt light-featherweight division. A student of Oakland head coach Michael Hillebrand, Hapa now owns 10th Planet Grass Valley.

Watching a student go on to lead an academy of his own is something special. Seeing him continue to challenge himself on the competition mats makes us even prouder.

Brian “Pirate” Wilkinson Brings Home Black Belt Bronze

Brian earned bronze in the Master 3 black belt featherweight division. Still training at 10th Planet Oakland, Pirate added a world championship podium finish to his competition record and brought another medal home for Team Savages.

Anthony Arnal Takes Silver for 10th Planet Oakley

Anthony earned silver in the Master 2 black belt light-featherweight division, representing his academy, 10th Planet Oakley.

A black belt under Adam Sachnoff of 10th Planet San Mateo, Anthony later joined Oakland as a coach before opening his own gym. He is part of our academy’s history, and we’re proud to celebrate his success as both a competitor and an academy owner.

All three finishes are listed in the official IBJJF results.

Congratulations to Hapa, Pirate, and Anthony! From the teammates still sharing our mats to those leading academies of their own, these connections remain an important part of our community.
