Stephen Choi and Alan Chang Promoted to Black Belt at 10th Planet Oakland

10th Planet Oakland celebrated a major milestone on December 12, 2023, as Stephen Choi and Alan Chang were both promoted to black belt by head coach Michael Hillebrand.

Earning a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt represents years of training, development and time spent on the mats. For Stephen and Alan, the promotions marked an important moment in their individual Jiu Jitsu journeys and a special night for the entire 10th Planet Oakland team.

Black belt promotions also represent something bigger for an academy. As 10th Planet Oakland continues to grow, each new black belt adds another experienced leader to the room and strengthens the training environment for everyone from first-day beginners to active competitors.

Stephen has also become an important part of the coaching team at 10th Planet Oakland, helping pass his knowledge and experience on to the next generation of students.
