10th Planet Oakland head coach Michael Hillebrand traveled to Las Vegas to corner professional grappler Bre Stikk at UFC BJJ 10 on August 20, 2026.

Stikk made her UFC BJJ debut at the Meta APEX as part of the Women’s Flyweight Grand Prix, where she faced reigning UFC BJJ women’s bantamweight champion Cassia Moura in the semifinal round.

Working Together in Northern California

Bre Stikk has built an accomplished career in competitive grappling, representing Team USA and competing at major events across the country.

Her primary coach, Richie “Boogeyman” Martinez of 10th Planet San Diego, has played a major role throughout her career.

After Stikk relocated to Northern California, she and 10th Planet Oakland head coach Michael Hillebrand began getting more opportunities to work together.

Already friends through the jiu-jitsu community, Stikk began making trips from Sacramento to Oakland to train with Hillebrand as part of her preparation for competitions.

Over time, Hillebrand also began cornering Stikk at select events.

When Stikk was selected to compete in the UFC BJJ Women’s Flyweight Grand Prix, Hillebrand flew to Las Vegas to support and corner her for her UFC BJJ debut.

Bre Stikk Faces UFC BJJ Champion Cassia Moura

Stikk was given an immediate test in her first appearance inside the UFC BJJ Bowl.

Across from her was Cassia Moura, the reigning UFC BJJ women’s bantamweight champion. Moura entered the Grand Prix after capturing the bantamweight title against Ffion Davies and successfully defending it against Sabrina Gondim.

For Stikk, the matchup was an opportunity to test herself against one of the top competitors in the UFC BJJ women’s divisions.

Moura ultimately secured the victory by armbar at 4:31 of the opening round and advanced in the Women’s Flyweight Grand Prix.

Although the result didn’t go Stikk’s way, competing against a reigning UFC BJJ champion on one of professional grappling’s biggest stages added another experience to an already accomplished competitive career.

For Hillebrand, the trip represented another opportunity to coach and corner at the highest levels of professional no-gi jiu-jitsu while supporting a friend and fellow member of the 10th Planet community.

Competition and No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu at 10th Planet Oakland

Competition has been a major part of the culture at 10th Planet Oakland since the academy opened.

Hillebrand and the 10th Planet Oakland coaching staff work with everyone from people stepping onto the mats for the first time to experienced competitors preparing for high-level events.

The team’s athletes and coaches have represented Oakland throughout Northern California and at major national and international competitions.

Stikk’s UFC BJJ appearance is another chapter in that story and another example of the relationships that connect the 10th Planet Oakland team with the larger competitive jiu-jitsu community.
